Sponsored by the Korean Government at Auburn University, Alabama. Established in August, 2012. Partner institution in South Korea is Keimyung University, located in Daegu, South Korea.
The Auburn King Sejong Institute provides students, faculty, staff and the wider Auburn community with an avenue to better understand and connect with Auburn’s growing Korean and Korean-American population through language and culture instruction. Non-credit classes in Korean language and culture are taught by a visiting instructor from Keimyung University, which is located in Daegu, South Korea.

These efforts will enable Americans of all cultures to enjoy and celebrate Asian arts and cultures. Encouraging interactions among different cultures through education and artistic and cultural programming will promote diversity, and international understanding and friendship. The mission will ultimately be fulfilled through an Asian Cultural Education Center, a classical Chinese Garden, and an International Friendship and Peace Plaza. (501(c)3) has been in existence in Huntsville since 1965 as International Services Council of Alabama, helping international military trainees at Redstone Arsenal feel at home, coordinating multi-cultural events in the Huntsville area, providing information about immigration and naturalization services to area residents, and hosting international visitors traveling to Alabama under the auspices of the U.S. Department of State’s International Visitor Leadership Program [IVLP] and as part of the Global Ties U.S. national network of state organizations. IFDC opened its headquarters in Muscle Shoals, Alabama on the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) Reservation in 1976. In March 1977, IFDC qualified as a Public International Organization by Presidential Decree 11977. IFDC received widespread support, cooperation and backing from the global community for which it was created and continues to thrive upon its successes.
